Norfolk is a great place for the kids so we’ve designed a family cycling adventure that is virtually guaranteed to keep them happy!  Based at a fantastic working farm that’s set in 700 acres of wonderful countryside, you can peddle off in a different direction each day on quiet country lanes to discover Dinosaurs, Steam Engines, Zoos, Museums and lots lots more.

Suggested Itinerary:-

Day 1. Cycle South 3 miles to Dereham Station before boarding the vintage train to ride the old 12 mile branch line of the Mid-Norfolk Railway to the historic market town of Wymondham. On return to Dereham you can swim in the brand new leisure centre or play 10 pin bowling at ‘Strikes’  - both adjacent to Dereham’s heritage railway station. In the afternoon cycle 5 miles to Gressenhall Rural Life Museum, a truly unique museum set in a 50-acre site with:- historic workhouse, museum of life on the land and a traditional farm with rare breed animals. In the late afternoon return 4 miles to your accommodation on quiet country lanes passing a great village pub!

Day 2.  Spend some time exploring the lovely river walks on the farm or try your hand at canoeing or archery. Then after lunch you can cycle East on very quiet lanes to the Dinosaur Park at Lenwade - just 5 miles away. This is a great place for kids of all ages with life-like Dinosaurs, forest trails, creepy crawlies and a range of fun filled activities. The cycle ride back can be split into 2 bite size chunks with another great country pub to visit !

Day 3.  You may feel like a longer ride today, 6 miles North on quiet lanes takes you to The Animal Ark at Great Witchingham. From the Ark it’s only 3 miles to the lovely market town of Reepham or 9 miles, (On old railway line track) to Alysham and the magnificent 15th century Blickling Hall. In Aylsham you can also take the Bure Valley Miniature Railway down to the River Bure at Wroxham for an afternoon cruise on the Norfolk Broads.

The farm offers a range of excellent family friendly 4* accommodation among the former dairy, milking parlour and cattle byre. Cleverly and sympathetically converted, the rooms offer a high level of both character and comfort, with exposed timbers and brickwork creating a friendly rustic atmosphere. All rooms come fully equipped with TVs, hairdryers, refreshment trays, toiletries and luxurious furnishings and bedding.
