Day 1 : Arrive in Diss and, if time permits, visit the famous Bressingham Steam Museum less than 1 mile from our base on the outskirts of town. (This large collection of steam trains operates Wednesday to Sunday from April through to October). Stay overnight on the edge of Diss in a child friendly hotel or luxury B & B.
Day 2 : Cycle the short distance to Bressingham Steam Museum or progress on to Banham Zoo with its amazing collection of animals. (Alternatively give Dad a treat and take a trip around England’s only Whisky Distillery at East Harling!). Complete the day near the historic market town of Wymondham which has a great all weather activity centre for the under 12’s and a superb heritage railway. Overnight stop in a child friendly hotel or an excellent farmhouse B & B.
Day 3 : Cycle the short route to the Abbey Station before boarding the train to ride the old 12 mile branch line of the Mid-Norfolk Heritage Railway to Dereham. Options to take in a game of 10 pin bowling at ‘Strikes’ adjacent to Dereham station before cycling on to The Dinosaur Adventure Park in Lenwade for some mega size fun! Stay in a family friendly hotel North of Norwich.
Day 4 : Cycle through quiet lanes to Bewilderwood and discover a fantastic fantasy land of woodland adventure and mischievous Crockebogs! Options to ride the Bure Valley Railway or hire a boat in Wroxham and spend a few hours looking for Otters, Kingfishers and Reed Warblers among the beautiful Norfolk Broads. Stay overnight near Wroxham in a small friendly hotel.
Day 5 : Options to cycle South to Strumpshaw Steam Tractor Museum and ‘smell’ the power of these incredible machines or visit Pettitts Adventure Park and spend a few hours feeding the animals or trying one of the many exciting rides. After lunch catch the ferry across the Broads and cycle along the riverside towards Hardley Flood Nature Reserve at Loddon. Later in the afternoon we will collect you and your bikes for a return to Diss. |
