So how does a cycle holiday work?
All our main tours are run on a self-guided basis - you can start any day of the year and travel at your own pace while we take care of all the hard work! We carefully adjust the bikes to your needs, provide detailed directions and maps, suggest interesting stop-overs and then transport all your luggage to the evening destinations. Although you will be travelling independently we will always be available throughout your holiday to offer advice or provide on-road support. (In the unlikely event of a major breakdown we aim to get you mobile again within the hour). With each tour there are different mileage options available every day - you can choose a gentle pedal or travel a little further on a more active route. [ back to top ] |
Where do the holidays start from?
Our base is in the lovely market town of Diss. Sitting on the county border, with excellent road links and a main-line train station to London, it makes the ideal starting location for most of our Norfolk and Suffolk tours. (For our North Norfolk Tours we use a country hotel near the coast as our operating base). At both locations we provide free car parking and can often arrange collection from the local train or bus stations. You can see an interactive map of our location on our Contact Details page. Who will enjoy a cycling holiday?
Hopefully everyone! We have carefully developed and tested a range of routes to suit most levels of cycling experience and expertise. From gentle family tours which start at 15 miles a day, to coastal quests that travel 30 miles or more between evening stop-overs. (As a rough guide an 8 year old child cycles at about 6-8 miles an hour, while a ‘grown-up’ will cover 8-12 miles an hour at a gentle pace – but it doesn’t matter what speed you do, it’s not a race!) Is it really suitable for Children?
A cycle tour is a healthy ‘activity based’ holiday and if you discover and explore exciting attractions on route you have all the makings of the ideal family holiday. Our Family Adventure Tour and our Family Adventure Safari are perfect for children up to 10 while our Coastal Explorer and Coastal Quest Tours can easily be tailored to the needs of older children. For younger children their own bike is often the best option, but we also offer a quality range of child seats, tag-a-longs, trailers and junior bikes that will meet the needs of most families. Please give us a call to discuss child options, we have young children ourselves so all the issues are familiar to us! [ back to top ] |
Where will I be staying?
All our tours include Bed & Breakfast accommodation within our network of comfortable hotels and coaching inns in Norfolk and Suffolk. Most are small establishments in country towns or villages, offering high quality rooms and excellent local food. Occasionally we use larger hotels or small luxury Bed & Breakfasts, however, all our accommodation providers are regularly inspected by ourselves to ensure they continue to offer the highest levels of hospitality and comfort for cyclists. Family friendly accommodation is also available at most locations, this might be a small suite, adjoining rooms or even a small apartment! [ back to top ] |
When can I go on a cycle holiday?
Our tours are totally flexible, you can start any day of any week, add extra cycling or ‘rest’ days at any stage and if you’re keen to visit a specific place we will design a route to take you there. Please give us a call or send us an e-mail to discuss any of these options - we like a challenge so you can make your requests as difficult as possible!
If you’re planning a family cycling holiday early or late in the year it’s worth checking with us just to confirm that individual attractions will be open on the relevant days. We can also suggest a number of interesting wet weather attractions just in case the sun is feeling a little shy! [ back to top ] |
Tell me about the bikes
We have a fleet of quality ‘Dawes’ and ‘Claude Butler’ hybrid touring bikes. These are more efficient than a mountain bike but a little stronger and more robust than a traditional road bike. Easy to ride and fitted with a good range of equipment, they’re ideal for covering up to 40 miles a day on roads, byways or cycle tracks. (All our bikes are replaced every 2 years so you’re guaranteed to be riding a reliable and modern machine). Alternatively if you prefer to bring your own bikes we can offer you a discount on our standard brochure price, see our Prices & Information for full details. You can also find out about our Electric Bikes. [ back to top ] |
