Starting in Diss and soon joining the famous Peddars Way Bridleway this holiday takes you through the heart of Norfolk on a variety of surfaces to reach the Norfolk Coast near Hunstanton. This is a holiday for people who enjoy the challenge of mountain biking but without the hard work of hill climbing ! Covering approx 40 miles per day you will explore the hidden parts of Breckland and then the fabulous coastal landscapes of North Norfolk. North Norfolk Explorer : 6 nights


5 or 7 night options available

choose 20 or 30 mile route options available each day (approx).

Day 1 : Check in at a country hotel near Fakenham, a thriving market town with an independent Cinema, Bowling Alley and Gas Museum! Options to cycle to Pensthorpe Nature Reserve a couple of miles East of the town.

Day 2 : Cycling West towards the coast you pass through some of Norfolk’s most unspoilt countryside, options to visit the hugely impressive Houghton Hall, the home of Sir Robert Walpole, (Britain’s first Prime Minister), the Queen’s Estate at Sandringham or Snettisham Park with its unique Deer Safaris. Stay overnight near Hunstanton, a charming Victorian seaside resort with numerous attractions both traditional and modern.

Day 3 : Options to visit the stunning RSPB coastal reserve at Titchwell Marsh before cycling East along the Coast. As you pedal through the amazing scenery of the North Norfolk Coast you will pass the birthplace of Horatio Nelson and cycle through 1500 acres of parkland at Holkham Hall. Options to visit the vast and totally unspoilt beach at Holkham or alternatively explore the small fishing town of Wells-next-the-sea which still has a fleet of shrimp boats. Complete the day in a small country inn.

Day 4 : Explore the medieval pilgrimage town of Walsingham, ride the famous light railway or visit the Abbey and Anglican Shrine. In the afternoon cycle to the old port of Blakeney with its seal trips, fresh fish shops, sand dunes and bird sanctuary.  Complete the day in the lovely Georgian town of Holt with an overnight stay in a local hotel or luxury B&B.
 
Day 5 : A day when you’re spoilt for choice – our route takes you past Norfolk’s best attractions:- the UK’s largest private Tank Museum at Muckleborough, the North Norfolk Railway, Sheringham Park, West Runton Shire Horse Museum, Felbrigg Hall, Cromer Pier, and many others! Overnight stay near the lovely market town of Aylsham.

Day 6 : Before turning West towards Dereham you have options to ride the Bure Valley Railway to Wroxham and take a short boat trip on the Norfolk Broads. Back on our route to Dereham you can stop off at Blickling Hall, a masterpiece of Jacobean Craftsmanship or visit the Museum of Rural Life at Gressenhall.  Overnight stay in small local hotel. 

Day 7 : Turning North-West towards your starting hotel you cycle through some of Norfolk’s most peaceful and un‑spoilt countryside.  You have options to visit the amazing earthworks at Castle Acre and the conservation village of Litcham before arriving back in Fakenham.
